jon stewart bill o reilly Debate White House

jon stewart bill o reilly What’s most fascinating about the debate between these two opiniotainment personalities is that, though they often disagree with each other on policy, they clearly share a pretty deep mutual respect for one another, and seem to be amused by one another’s schtick. Oddly, they probably each consider the other to be the clown, and in some ways they are right. Joanne Chesimard (aka Assata Shakur), an ex-Black Panther, convicted of killing a New Jersey police officer in 1973. This all built up to the latest Jon Stewart - Bill O’Reilly faceoff, which drilled down to the question: Did the First Lady make a major gaffe.

O’Reilly positing that Common’s previous lyrics expressing sympathy for convicted cop killers Mumia Abu-Jamal and Assata Shakur should have disqualified his invitation, and Stewart positing that O’Reilly was nutso for thinking the lyrics either excused their crimes or mattered that much in the first place. White House, then Bono (whose U2 recorded “Native Son” about Leonard Peltier, another activist convicted, amidst great controversy, of murdering two FBI agents) and Bob Dylan (whose “Hurricane,” about Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, also controversially convicted of murder in 1966), both visitors to the White House, should not have been allowed in, either.

Unfortunately for many, it will likely be a disappointment born purely from unreasonable expectations. O’Reilly likes to talk about the “culture wars” and many will incorrectly see this debate in such a light. Yes, there are stark political differences between O’Reilly and Stewart, but they aren’t nearly the binary opposites as some would like to make them The cable news channel has posted a sneak peek of the debate, which has been split to air over two nights. The clip reveals that one topic of discussion will be the controversy over the White House inviting rapper Common for a poetry reading, and Stewart's "mad love" for O'Reilly.
