Adaminte makan abu While Dabaang clinched the award for answering “the need of cinegoers for entertainment rooted in Indian soil”, Adaminte Makan Abu won for “a simple yet evocative articulation of humanist values that frees matters of faith from the constrictions of narrow parochialism Adaminte Makan Abu" which is directed by Ali Ahammed.He mainly handles comedic roles, but he has acted in serious roles in films such as Achanurangatha Veedu, Gramophone, and Perumazhakkalam. He won Kerala State Film Award for the Second Best Actor in 2005 for his role as Samuel in Lal Jose's "Achanurangatha Veedu".

Nedumudu Venu, Mala Aravindan and Thampi Antony would form the supporting cast. The director feels that the role that Salim Kumar plays in the film would bring several laurels along the actor’s way. The film that has been captured on lens by renowned camera man Madhu Ambatt, has been shot on locations at Vadakkanchery. Marathi actress Mitalee Jagtap Paradhar and Tamil cinema's Saranya Mohan won the National Award for best actress for their performances in the movies 'Baboo Band Baaja' and 'Thenmerku Paruvakkaatru' respectively.
